Our  MVP Award program recognizes players for their performance during the session. Starting the 2017 Spring Session, APA will be utilizing a new calculation system for our MVP Program.  This is a system that our National Office has been working on that addresses how well players play in their matches, not just if they won and what skill level the beat. The new system is going to be using a calculation that is based on the percentage of points you win versus the number of points you could win total when you play a match, know as the "Points Available" or "PA" Calculation.

Players that played a minimum of 4 matches within the regular session and have a minimum of 10 lifetime matches will be eligible for the MVP calculation. Tiers will be divided based on skill levels with 4 tiers in 8-Ball and 4 tiers in 9-Ball.

The qualification will be determined by using the following equation to determine their "PA” (Points Available) percentage:

Number of points earned/Number of points available = PA percentage

Example in 8-Ball:  In every 8-ball match, a player has 3 points available to win.  If a player played 10 matches, they had 30 points available to win.  If they won a total of 13 points in those 10 matches then the calculation is13/30 = 0.43 or 43%.  This means that player won 43% of the points available (PA) to them during the session.

Example in 9-Ball:  In every 9-ball match, a player has 20 points available to win.  If a player played 10 matches, they had 200 points available to win.  If they won a total of 162 points in those 10 matches then the calculation is: 162/200 = .81 or 81%.  This means that the player won 81% of the points available (PA) to them during the session.

Players can check out their personal MVP points throughout the session on their online Member Services Account.

At the end of the session, APA will combine all the divisions and generate a final MVP List for each skill level tier in 8-Ball & 9-Ball. The players making the final list will then be invited to play in the MVP Tournament following the end of the session. Players must be active the next session to be eligible to participate in this tournament. This MVP Tournament is both a cash tournament and a chance to qualify for the Singles Regional and making it to Las Vegas for the APA National Singles Championships.
